Jakob is part of our Online Brand Protection team, where he leads our efforts in combating fraudulent websites. His work includes monitoring and identifying fake websites, assessing infringements, and taking down or shutting down sites that infringe our clients’ intellectual property rights or otherwise misuse their brands.
He also has extensive experience enforcing intellectual property rights against online infringements outside the traditional court system. By utilizing cost-effective and time-efficient solutions, he helps make enforcement more affordable, practical, and accessible for rights holders.
Jakob has in-depth expertise in ICANN’s rules governing domain names under generic top-level domains (gTLDs) such as “.com”, as well as intermediary liability across various types of internet service providers. He has also built a strong global network consisting of hundreds of hosting providers, registrars, and registry operators, including national ccTLD registries responsible for their respective countries’ country-code top-level domains.
In addition, Jakob is involved in the development of policies and initiatives aimed at preventing and addressing abuse of the Domain Name System (DNS), a fundamental internet service relied upon by billions of people worldwide.
Jakob holds a Master of Science in Law and Business Administration.
